Original job description

Overview

Our client has been using Power Apps and Power Automate for several years and has built a relatively mature Power Platform environment. The team already has business analysts who can build basic apps and flows, but it now needs a more technical Power Platform resource to take the environment to the next level. This person will help support and improve existing applications while bringing greater structure to governance, permissions, testing, deployment, and overall platform management.

Responsibilities

  • Support, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate solutions across the organization.
  • Develop new Power Platform applications, workflows, and automation solutions based on business and operational requirements.
  • Partner with business analysts, stakeholders, and end users to gather requirements, understand business processes, and translate needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Improve and modernize existing canvas apps and flows through refactoring, optimization, and ongoing platform enhancements.
  • Establish and maintain Power Platform governance standards, including environment management, security, permissions, access controls, and administrative best practices.
  • Define and implement application lifecycle management (ALM) processes, including testing, deployment, release management, and change control procedures.
  • Support platform administration activities, ensuring reliability, performance, security, and compliance across the Power Platform environment.
  • Create and maintain standards, documentation, and development best practices to improve consistency and scalability across Power Platform solutions.
  • Collaborate with enterprise application and IT teams to integrate Power Platform solutions with Azure services, Dynamics 365, and other internal systems.
  • Leverage tools such as Azure DevOps to support source control, deployment pipelines, testing strategies, and solution management.
  • Evaluate and implement opportunities to improve platform architecture, technical standards, and overall platform maturity.
  • Support Power Platform initiatives related to business growth, including international expansion efforts and future Dynamics 365 implementations.
  • Work independently to manage technical responsibilities while collaborating closely with business analysts and cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Power Platform development, administration, and governance, helping drive long-term platform strategy and adoption.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to streamline business processes, increase automation, and deliver operational efficiencies through the Microsoft Power Platform.

Experience Needed

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform, specifically Power Apps and Power Automate
  • Experience supporting and improving legacy canvas applications
  • Understanding of Power Platform governance, administration, permissions, and environment management
  • Experience establishing stronger testing, deployment, and application lifecycle management practices
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar development and deployment processes
  • Ability to work with business analysts and end users to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Experience supporting an established Power Platform environment that requires structural cleanup and improved standards
  • Dynamics 365 or Azure integration experience is preferred
  • Manufacturing experience would be helpful but is not required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, although relevant hands-on experience is more important to the client
