Original job description

We are looking for a PC Technician to support a large-scale device refresh initiative. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, organized deployment activity, and solving workstation issues in a fast-paced environment. The position will focus on preparing, upgrading, and deploying devices across multiple facilities while helping ensure staff have properly configured equipment for daily operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and install workstation setups at assigned facilities, ensuring each area is ready for device deployment and end-user use.
  • Upgrade existing computers from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and perform imaging tasks for legacy hardware that will remain in service.
  • Replace or redeploy non-clinical equipment based on provided asset guidance, including determining which devices should be retained, reassigned, or removed from use.
  • Configure clinical workstations and laptops as thin clients by installing IGEL and supporting desktop virtualization standards across applicable devices.
  • Apply accurate device naming conventions and verify asset information so equipment is properly identified within organizational systems.
  • Assist with basic peripheral connectivity such as monitors, keyboards, mice, and other plug-and-play components during workstation deployment.
  • Evaluate hardware placement needs and make practical recommendations on where older and newer devices should be allocated between clinical and non-clinical environments.
  • Support daily rollout coordination by reviewing upcoming device schedules, confirming deployment readiness, and helping maintain progress against project timelines.
  • Provide team lead support when needed by guiding workflow, organizing next-day priorities, and helping ensure deployment activities are completed efficiently
  • Experience with Windows 11 installation, configuration, and device upgrade activities.
  • Hands-on knowledge of IGEL deployment and thin client setup in an enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with desktop virtualization concepts and supporting virtual desktop endpoints.
  • Background in PC deployment, imaging, hardware refresh, and workstation replacement projects.
  • Ability to follow asset handling guidelines and accurately document device naming and assignment details.
  • Comfortable performing basic peripheral installation and troubleshooting for standard workstation components.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions regarding hardware allocation and reuse.
