We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a multi-location RV park and campground organization in Del Mar, California. This is a Contract position focused on delivering accurate, timely payroll processing for a workforce of approximately 400 to 500 hourly and salaried employees, with staffing levels that change by season. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with Paycom, understands multi-state payroll requirements, and is comfortable working in a hospitality-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Process end-to-end payroll for hourly and salaried team members across multiple locations, ensuring wages are calculated accurately and paid on schedule.
  • Manage payroll activities for a workforce that fluctuates seasonally, maintaining precise records and adjusting payroll inputs as staffing levels change.
  • Administer multi-state payroll in compliance with applicable wage and tax regulations, including proper withholdings and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Review employee time, earnings, deductions, and benefit-related payroll details to identify and resolve discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
  • Maintain payroll data within Paycom, including updates to employee records, compensation changes, and recurring payroll elements.
  • Partner with internal teams to address payroll questions, support audits, and provide documentation related to payroll processing and reporting.
  • Prepare and validate payroll reports to support reconciliation, leadership review, and ongoing operational accuracy.
  • Assist with payroll-related process improvements and support system or workflow updates when needed within the payroll function.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing full-cycle payroll in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Proven ability to process payroll for large employee populations, including organizations with 400 or more employees.
  • Experience handling multi-state payroll with a strong understanding of payroll tax and wage compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency using Paycom for payroll administration and employee payroll record management.
  • Background supporting both hourly and salaried employees, including benefit-related payroll deductions.
  • Experience in hospitality, lodging, campground, resort, or other service-oriented environments is strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills when working with payroll data and deadlines.
