Payroll Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to support accurate and timely payroll operations for a workforce in Bolingbrook, Illinois. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who brings strong Paychex expertise, thrives in a detail-driven environment, and can manage multiple payroll schedules with confidence. The role focuses on full-cycle payroll processing across salaried and plant employee groups while maintaining compliance and precision in every pay cycle.

Responsibilities:

• Process end-to-end payroll accurately for employees across different pay groups, including biweekly salaried staff and weekly plant teams.
• Manage payroll activities within Paychex, ensuring employee records, earnings, deductions, and tax details are maintained correctly.
• Review payroll data for completeness and accuracy, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues before payroll is finalized.
• Support a highly manual payroll environment by organizing payroll inputs, validating calculations, and maintaining strong documentation.
• Administer payroll for a multi-state employee population while following applicable wage, tax, and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate with internal teams to gather timekeeping and compensation information needed for timely payroll submission.
• Produce payroll-related reports and assist with audits, reconciliations, and other recordkeeping requirements.
• Contribute to payroll process continuity and support system-related payroll activities as needed within the department.
• At least 5 years of payroll experience, including full-cycle payroll processing.
• Proven hands-on experience using Paychex is required.
• Strong understanding of payroll administration in a manual or high-touch processing environment.
• Experience handling multi-state payroll with careful attention to compliance and accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to manage payroll for large employee populations, including environments of 500+ employees.
• High level of detail orientation and ability to work accurately under recurring payroll deadlines.
• Familiarity with payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now or UKG Pro is beneficial.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle sensitive payroll data professionally.

The salary range for this position is $40/hour to $45/hour. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
