Payroll Specialist

Robert Half Contract Finance and Accounting is seeking a Payroll Specialist for a well-established organization to help support a multi-state workforce. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while partnering with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll issues, support reporting, and maintain compliance with payroll regulations. Key Responsibilities: Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for employees across multiple states Review payroll data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies Process payroll adjustments, terminations, garnishments, and other payroll-related transactions Respond to employee and management payroll inquiries Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and month-end activities Support PTO accruals and other payroll-related accounting processes Coordinate with internal teams to troubleshoot payroll and timekeeping issues Participate in payroll system enhancements, testing, and process improvements Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of sensitive employee information 2+ years of payroll processing experience Experience supporting multi-state payroll environments preferred Strong understanding of payroll regulations and wage and hour compliance Proficiency with payroll, HRIS, and timekeeping systems Advanced attention to detail and problem-solving skills Strong Excel and reporting capabilities Ability to manage deadlines in a high-volume environment CPP certification is a plus
