We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee complex payroll operations for a growing organization in the renewable energy sector based in Charlotte, North Carolina. This Long-term Contract position calls for someone who can ensure accurate, compliant payroll delivery across multiple employee groups while collaborating closely with internal partners and external providers. The ideal candidate brings strong payroll systems expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to support both domestic and international payroll activities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct payroll processing from start to finish across multiple pay groups, entities, and pay schedules, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in each cycle.
  • Manage payroll administration within Rippling, maintaining compliant processes, reliable records, and consistent execution of recurring payroll activities.
  • Oversee employee payroll changes throughout the employment lifecycle, including onboarding, departures, compensation updates, and leave-related adjustments.
  • Act as the main point of contact for international payroll administration through the Remote platform, helping ensure smooth support for global employees.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to a Payroll Coordinator and handle escalated payroll questions, discrepancies, and issue resolution.
  • Work closely with HR, Finance, Accounting, Benefits, and outside vendors to align payroll data, resolve variances, and support efficient payroll operations.
  • Review payroll inputs and outputs for quality control, identify potential errors before finalization, and help maintain strong internal payroll standards.
  • Support payroll tax, audit preparation, and reporting activities by keeping documentation organized and payroll records accurate across jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle payroll for large employee populations, including environments with more than 500 employees.
  • Strong background in multi-state payroll administration, with knowledge of payroll compliance, payroll taxes, and related reporting requirements.
  • Hands-on experience using Rippling for payroll processing and payroll administration.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, along with confidence working across integrated people and payroll platforms.
  • Experience supporting payroll across multiple entities and maintaining accuracy in high-volume, detail-sensitive workflows.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners while managing sensitive information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of international and Canadian payroll processes is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and audit support skills, including quality review and payroll record validation.
