Experience supporting hourly employees across multiple locations is especially valuable.
Key Responsibilities

- Manage payroll calendars, review payroll registers, and ensure timely processing of scheduled pay cycles.
- Supervise payroll staff and establish clear review procedures and processing standards.
- Review timekeeping data, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, and other earnings.
- Ensure accurate processing of employee deductions, garnishments, benefit changes, and tax withholding updates.
- Maintain compliance with applicable wage-and-hour requirements, including overtime and meal/rest period rules.
- Coordinate payroll tax filings, reconciliations, quarter-end reporting, and year-end activities.
- Partner with HR on onboarding, terminations, compensation changes, leave-related updates, and employee records.
- Research payroll discrepancies and oversee corrections and off-cycle payments.
- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and collaborate with accounting during month-end close.
- Maintain payroll controls, confidential records, and audit documentation.
- Evaluate payroll systems and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, reporting, and automation.
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility.
- Experience managing multi-location or multi-state payroll preferred.
- Strong understanding of California payroll requirements and wage-and-hour regulations.
- Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and timekeeping software.
- Knowledge of payroll tax reconciliation and year-end reporting.
- Strong Excel, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) credential preferred.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information and manage strict deadlines.
