Original job description

We are looking for a compassionate and detail-focused Patient Registration specialist to support patient access services in the Greater Philadelphia Region. This contract position plays an important role in confirming insurance eligibility, securing needed authorizations, coordinating referral-related documentation, and guiding patients through financial-related questions with professionalism and care. The ideal candidate brings strong administrative judgment, clear communication skills, and a patient-first approach within a healthcare setting.

Here’s how you’ll contribute each day:

  • Confirm active insurance coverage and secure required pre-service approvals to help prevent delays in care.
  • Review referral information for completeness, coordinate necessary follow-up, and ensure supporting documentation is properly recorded.
  • Assist patients with registration-related questions and explain coverage or financial obligations in a clear, respectful manner.
  • Maintain accurate patient and payer information in the appropriate systems while documenting verification and authorization outcomes.
  • Investigate benefit or approval discrepancies, using sound judgment to address issues and escalate concerns when needed.
  • Support scheduling and front-end access workflows by helping align registration details with appointment and service requirements.

Other requirements for the Patient Registration position include and are not limited to:

  • Previous experience in patient registration, insurance verification, authorization support, referrals, or a similar healthcare administrative role.
  • Working knowledge of medical insurance processes and the ability to review coverage details accurately.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to assist patients in a compassionate and attentive manner.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage documentation with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort using administrative or electronic systems to enter, update, and track patient and insurance information.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking when resolving registration, coverage, or authorization-related issues.
