Original job description
We are looking for a Patient Care Coordinator to support patient registration and front-desk operations for a contract position. In this role, you will create a welcoming experience for patients while ensuring accurate collection of demographic, insurance, and financial information within the electronic medical record. This opportunity is well suited for someone who combines strong customer service skills with attention to detail and the ability to navigate healthcare administrative processes.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients upon arrival and provide a welcoming, supportive first point of contact throughout the registration process.
- Gather and enter patient demographic, insurance, and financial details into the electronic medical record with a high level of accuracy.
- Complete check-in activities, conduct intake interviews, and ensure required forms and signatures are obtained before services are provided.
- Guide patients to scheduled visits or procedures and assist with additional appointment coordination when same-day needs arise.
- Investigate and address registration discrepancies, claim-related concerns, and account issues while documenting actions taken in the medical record.
- Review insurance eligibility, benefits, and payer responses, including more complex billing-related situations, to support accurate account setup.
- Communicate estimated costs, collect co-pays and deductibles, and answer routine questions related to payment expectations and available financial support options.
- Help patients navigate financial assistance processes by reviewing program criteria, supporting application completion, and routing complex matters to the appropriate team.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to team members, support request-for-information documentation, and assist with gathering records or other administrative tasks as needed.
- At least 6 months of customer service experience in a clinic, hospital, or office-based environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and comfort working across multiple administrative systems.
- Ability to manage patient registration tasks involving insurance verification, billing support, and electronic documentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and staff.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to maintain accurate records and resolve issues efficiently.
- Experience with revenue cycle processes, general office operations, or Epic is preferred.
- Ability to remain active throughout the workday, including frequent standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting of light items.
