Original job description

We are looking for a Patient Care Coordinator to support patient registration operations in Bakersfield, California. This position is fully onsite and plays an important role in delivering accurate intake, insurance verification, and financial clearance services in a fast-paced hospital setting. The person in this role will help create a positive patient experience while ensuring documentation, compliance, and billing-related information are completed correctly and on time.

Responsibilities:

  • Register patients accurately by entering demographic, insurance, and visit-related details into hospital systems while minimizing duplicate records.
  • Verify coverage information, review benefits, and obtain required forms, signatures, and supporting documentation before or during the registration process.
  • Collect patient financial responsibility, process payments securely, and maintain proper cash-handling and payment documentation procedures.
  • Support access workflows across multiple intake areas, which may include emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and maternity-related registration functions based on operational needs.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, clinical teams, physician offices, and insurance representatives to resolve registration and coverage issues promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, payer requirements, privacy expectations, and revenue cycle standards throughout each patient encounter.
  • Monitor work queues and prioritize tasks effectively to prevent delays, reduce incomplete registrations, and support timely billing and reimbursement.
  • Scan, review, and organize registration records so that patient files remain complete, accurate, and accessible for downstream processes.
  • Experience in patient registration, patient access, medical front-end operations, or a related healthcare administrative role.
  • Working knowledge of insurance verification, benefit review, billing support, and collection or payment processing practices.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English.
  • Ability to follow established procedures, policies, and compliance requirements while handling confidential patient information.
  • Comfortable working onsite in Bakersfield, California, with varied 8-hour shifts that may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to document accurately, review information thoroughly, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with data entry, document scanning, and registration-related systems used to support hospital operations.
