The ideal candidate brings strong service skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to work effectively with patients, clinical teams, and insurance representatives.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patient accounts in advance of visits by completing registration steps before scheduled services take place.
- Review and maintain demographic, insurance, and financial details to ensure patient records remain current and accurate.
- Secure required prior authorizations, pre-certifications, and related approvals from insurance carriers.
- Conduct coverage and eligibility checks to confirm financial clearance requirements are satisfied before appointments.
- Arrange patient appointments and enter scheduling information correctly into the appropriate management system.
- Explain registration needs, benefit-related information, and missing documentation requirements to patients in a clear and thorough manner.
- Partner with providers, office staff, and payers to address issues that could delay treatment or access to services.
- Protect confidential information and maintain complete records in alignment with healthcare privacy and organizational standards.
- Provide responsive and empathetic support to patients by answering questions and helping resolve concerns efficiently.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience, including customer service work in a fast-paced setting.
- Background in healthcare administration, patient registration, scheduling, or insurance verification is preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, medical staff, and external insurance contacts.
- Strong attention to detail with consistent accuracy in data entry and record maintenance.
- Comfort using computer applications and learning scheduling or practice management platforms.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and remain organized in a busy healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with medical insurance processes, including authorizations, pre-certifications, or workers’ compensation cases, is preferred.
