Original job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Paralegal to support a busy legal practice in Bethesda, Maryland. This role is well suited to someone with prior law firm experience who can manage litigation-related tasks efficiently, stay organized in a fast-paced setting, and work closely with attorneys and property management clients. The ideal candidate brings hands-on knowledge of Maryland court processes and is comfortable handling a high volume of filings and case activity.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and submit landlord-tenant pleadings and related court documents for matters involving nonpayment, lease violations, and holdover cases.
  • Coordinate the preparation and delivery of required legal notices in line with attorney guidance, lease terms, and applicable procedural rules.
  • Manage eviction-related workflows by preparing restitution documents, monitoring progress, and communicating with courts, sheriffs, process servers, and client representatives.
  • Maintain accurate case logs, deadline trackers, and status reports to ensure matters move forward without delay.
  • Assemble hearing packets, exhibits, dockets, and other materials needed by attorneys for court appearances.
  • Enter and monitor court dates, filing deadlines, eviction schedules, and other key events to support timely case management.
  • Partner with attorneys on case readiness by gathering documents, confirming witness needs, and updating clients on upcoming hearings and next steps.
  • Support high-volume litigation activity by organizing files, tracking outstanding items, and helping keep matters current across multiple cases.
  • At least 2 years of experience working as a paralegal or legal assistant within a law firm environment.
  • Working knowledge of Maryland civil litigation practices, court procedures, and general litigation support responsibilities.
  • Experience supporting property management clients, eviction matters, high-volume filings, or broader civil litigation work.
  • Familiarity with electronic court filing platforms, including systems used for Maryland filings, is advantageous.
  • A college degree or paralegal certificate is required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and case updates in a fast-paced setting.
  • A collaborative approach to work and the ability to commute reliably to the Bethesda, Maryland office.
  • Prior exposure to landlord-tenant law is preferred, though not mandatory.
