Operations Manager

Robert Half is partnering with a growing logistics company in the South Bay to identify an experienced Operations Manager to lead daily logistics, transportation, dispatch, and warehouse operations at its Long Beach location. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader who understands the fast-paced world of port logistics and knows what it takes to keep freight moving efficiently. The ideal candidate has direct experience with the Port of Long Beach and/or Port of Los Angeles, a strong background in transportation and distribution, and the leadership skills to motivate teams, improve processes, and deliver results. Key Responsibilities

• Direct daily logistics, transportation, dispatch, and warehouse operations to ensure efficiency and on-time execution.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 10 direct reports, promoting accountability and strong performance.
• Oversee port-related activities, coordinating with terminals, drayage providers, and logistics partners to ensure smooth cargo movement.
• Manage shipment schedules, dispatch activities, warehouse workflows, and inventory movement.
• Monitor operational performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to increase productivity and reduce delays.
• Oversee purchasing-related operational activities and resource planning.
• Utilize terminal platforms and internal systems to track shipments and maintain operational visibility.
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to meet customer expectations and business objectives.

Qualifications

• Proven operations management experience in logistics, transportation, distribution, or supply chain.
• Direct experience with the Port of Long Beach and/or Port of Los Angeles is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of port operations, drayage, dispatch, and freight movement.
• Previous experience managing and developing frontline teams.
• Experience overseeing warehouse operations and transportation workflows.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with terminal operating systems and logistics platforms.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

• At least 5 years of experience in operations leadership within logistics, transportation, warehouse, or supply chain environments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of port operations, including experience working with the Port of Long Beach or similar port facilities.
• Hands-on background in dispatch coordination and transportation oversight.
• Proven ability to supervise and develop team members in a fully onsite operating environment.
• Familiarity with warehouse operations, inventory flow, and end-to-end supply chain processes.
• Experience using port terminal systems and the ability to quickly learn proprietary internal platforms.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to manage multiple operational priorities effectively.
• Experience supporting military household goods or military relocation operations is highly preferred.
