Medical Billing Specialist

Responsibilities:

• Review and work a targeted portion of claims that require correction or additional follow-up before payment can be secured.
• Investigate billing discrepancies, identify the root cause of claim issues, and take action to move accounts toward resolution.
• Manage insurance and patient collections activities by following up on outstanding balances and documenting account status updates.
• Submit corrected claims, appeals, and supporting information as needed to help reduce denials and accelerate reimbursement.
• Apply medical billing and coding knowledge to ensure claims are processed accurately and in alignment with payer requirements.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and prioritize follow-up efforts based on timeliness, balance, and reimbursement risk.
• Collaborate with internal teams to address claim exceptions and support workflow adjustments related to billing system processes when needed.
• Hands-on experience in medical billing within a healthcare, physician practice, or related medical environment.
• Well-rounded accounts receivable background with the ability to handle claim follow-up, denials, and collections activity.
• Working knowledge of medical coding concepts as they relate to claim submission and payment accuracy.
• Experience managing medical claims from initial billing through payment follow-up and issue resolution.
• Familiarity with EClinical Works is a big plus.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with payers, patients, and cross-functional teams.
