The ideal candidate brings strong legal judgment, a client-centered approach, and experience guiding clients through complex financial and business challenges. This attorney will play a key role in mentoring team members, developing client relationships, and contributing to the firm's long-term vision while maintaining an active caseload involving restructuring, insolvency, and related commercial matters.
This opportunity is well suited for a leader who enjoys building teams, improving processes, and helping clients achieve successful outcomes in high-stakes situations.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with firm leadership to set strategic priorities, support practice expansion, and strengthen overall performance.
- Direct the daily work of attorneys, paralegals, and administrative team members to maintain excellent legal service and responsiveness.
- Counsel businesses and individuals on bankruptcy, insolvency, restructuring, and related commercial matters.
- Create and execute legal approaches for complex financial disputes, reorganizations, and distressed business situations.
- Prepare, review, and manage petitions, motions, agreements, pleadings, and other critical legal filings.
- Advocate for clients in court appearances, negotiations, mediations, and other formal proceedings.
- Meet with prospective and existing clients to assess legal needs, evaluate matters, and recommend practical solutions.
- Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, and career development efforts across the legal team.
- Improve workflows, technology usage, and operational processes to enhance efficiency and client experience.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Active Iowa law license or ability to secure admission in Iowa.
- At least 10 years of experience in bankruptcy, debt restructuring, insolvency, creditors’ rights, lending, or related commercial practice areas.
- Demonstrated background handling Chapter 11, Chapter 12, creditor-side matters, workouts, or other sophisticated reorganization matters.
- Strong leadership experience with responsibility for supervising legal professionals and support staff.
- Proven ability to manage multiple client matters while maintaining high standards of service and accuracy.
- Sound business development, organizational, and mentoring skills in a law firm or comparable legal environment.
