This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced distribution environment and can help keep dispatch activity, package movement, and route execution on track. The person in this role will provide on-site coordination, guide frontline team members, and help maintain efficient, safe, and organized hub performance.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day activity across the hub floor to keep dispatch operations, pickups, and route flow running efficiently.
- Direct and support a team of approximately 5 to 10 dispatch staff, adjusting coverage as needed to address absences and shifting workload demands.
- Allocate assignments based on operational priorities and help maintain steady movement throughout each delivery wave.
- Monitor throughput, service activity, and key operating data, then communicate performance updates to leadership.
- Provide real-time coaching to dispatch personnel on routing decisions, issue resolution, and exception management.
- Lead routine safety discussions and reinforce compliance with site procedures and operating standards.
- Identify and escalate concerns related to staffing levels, equipment availability, or unexpected volume changes to management.
- Maintain an active presence across the floor and yard to quickly respond to operational needs and support continuous workflow.
- At least 1 year of experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or a similar frontline transportation role.
- Demonstrated ability to guide coworkers, train new team members, and provide direction in an operational setting.
- Working knowledge of logistics, distribution, shipping, or dispatch-related systems and tools.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
- Clear communication skills and the judgment to escalate issues when operational risks arise.
- Comfortable working in an active hub setting that includes time outdoors and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Experience supporting package flow, route coordination, or other shipping-related functions is preferred.
