Original job description
We are looking for a Lending Specialist to support commercial lending activities in New Jersey. This Long-term Contract position will oversee the progression of loan transactions from pipeline coordination through closing and post-closing activity, while working closely with lending, operations, servicing, and legal partners. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Guide loan opportunities through the pipeline by partnering with Relationship Managers and coordinating with internal teams to help achieve timely closings.
- Organize, examine, and track closing packages and supporting materials with legal counsel or internal documentation teams to satisfy due diligence, insurance, regulatory, and operational requirements.
- Support transaction execution by identifying issues early, escalating concerns when needed, and helping implement practical solutions that reduce risk and maintain proper controls.
- Request and compile required documents to complete loan files, and prepare additional supporting materials when transaction needs change.
- Work closely with closing, servicing, and operations groups to confirm accurate booking, accrual activity, reconciliations, and daily cash positioning.
- Coordinate initial funding at closing and help manage ongoing loan activity such as payments, draws, and payoffs to ensure accurate processing and recordkeeping.
- Review loan documentation carefully for completeness and accuracy, and close loans directly when appropriate.
- Communicate proactively with lenders and internal stakeholders regarding outstanding items or issues that may affect closing timelines.
- 5-7 years of experience in a Lending Assistant, Loan Processor, or similar loan administration role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to uphold policies, procedures, and controls with confidence and professionalism.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and strong overall computer skills, including experience with loan systems such as core banking platforms and nCino.
- Excellent organizational, customer service, and data entry skills, with the ability to manage high-volume work under strict deadlines.
- Experience supporting payment processing, documentation review, reconciliations, and operational coordination within a lending environment.
- Knowledge of Commercial Real Estate and C&I loan documentation is preferred.
