We are looking for an IT Product Owner to guide the direction and delivery of a transportation technology platform based in Oak Brook, Illinois. This Long-term Contract position will work closely with business and technical partners to shape priorities, define product needs, and support iterative delivery in an Agile environment. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of product ownership, technical fluency, and communication skills to help modernize enterprise capabilities and keep cross-functional teams aligned on outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Work with business partners and key stakeholders to uncover needs, define scope, and turn priorities into clear product direction.
- Create and maintain well-structured epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria in Jira so development teams have actionable and testable requirements.
- Own backlog prioritization by organizing work effectively and keeping upcoming sprint commitments prepared in advance.
- Facilitate refinement sessions, sprint planning, and release planning to support steady execution across the product lifecycle.
- Partner with engineering, quality assurance, and business teams to move features from concept through delivery with strong collaboration.
- Provide ongoing guidance to the delivery team by resolving requirement questions, addressing blockers, and supporting day-to-day decision-making.
- Lead product efforts tied to the modernization of a transportation platform, including coordination across technical and business functions.
- Use AI tools and rapid prototyping approaches to improve team efficiency, accelerate discovery, and support better product decisions.
- Demonstrated experience serving as a Product Owner or Product Manager within Agile or Scrum delivery environments.
- Strong hands-on ability with Jira, including story development, backlog oversight, sprint preparation, and issue tracking.
- Proficiency with AI-driven ways of working, such as prompt engineering, fast prototyping, and applying automation tools to increase development velocity.
- Solid technical understanding of full-stack application architecture, including how front-end systems, back-end services, APIs, and databases interact.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Node.js, MongoDB, and AngularJS, with the ability to discuss technical dependencies and tradeoffs.
- Proven ability to convert business goals into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria that support development and testing.
- Strong communication, prioritization, stakeholder management, and leadership skills in cross-functional enterprise settings.
- Industry experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain, along with exposure to modernization or legacy platform initiatives, is a plus.
