Original job description
We are looking for a business-focused IT Analyst who can bridge operational planning, finance, and technology in a fast-paced Oil and Gas environment. This Long-term Contract position is based in Houston, Texas, and will support critical planning applications, data processes, and reporting solutions used for budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, hands-on systems support experience, and the ability to work across business and technical teams to resolve issues and improve planning operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and support planning platforms such as Anaplan and Pod2, including model setup, access controls, business rules, hierarchies, and workflow configuration.
- Partner with finance, operations, and IT stakeholders to support budget cycles, forecasting activities, and long-range planning through accurate data preparation and model updates.
- Convert business needs into clear functional documentation by defining data inputs, calculation methods, dependencies, and testing criteria for system enhancements.
- Investigate and resolve system issues related to application behavior, user access, calculation outputs, and performance, escalating to external vendors when needed.
- Oversee and troubleshoot data movement across source systems, planning tools, Snowflake, and reporting environments to maintain reliable information flow.
- Create and maintain Snowflake queries, views, and related data assets to support reconciliation, analysis, reporting, and planning activities.
- Trace and validate data across systems to identify missing, duplicated, delayed, or inaccurate records and ensure consistency in financial and operational reporting.
- Develop and enhance Streamlit applications and Sigma dashboards that enable business users to analyze data, validate results, and support planning workflows.
- Work with technical teams and application owners to address integration failures, document corrective actions, and implement tested improvements to reporting and analytics solutions.
- Experience working as a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or similar role supporting finance or operational planning processes.
- Hands-on knowledge of planning applications such as Anaplan, Pod2, or comparable enterprise planning tools.
- Strong ability to analyze data issues, perform reconciliations, and validate financial totals, assumptions, and dimensional mappings.
- Practical experience with Snowflake, including writing queries and building data views to support analytics and reporting.
- Background developing or supporting reporting and visualization solutions, including tools such as Sigma or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Streamlit or comparable application development frameworks used for business process support and data analysis.
- Ability to communicate effectively with business users, technical teams, and third-party vendors while managing multiple priorities independently.
- Oil and Gas industry experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, operational analysis, or long-range planning environments is strongly preferred.
