Original job description

We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join a food processing operation on a Contract basis for a 12-week assignment. This role supports day-to-day HR activities in a fast-paced, on-site manufacturing environment and works closely with employees and leaders across multiple shifts. The position is best suited for someone who can balance employee support, administrative accuracy, and sound judgment while helping maintain consistent HR operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support daily human resources activities, including employee relations, onboarding coordination, and routine HR administration for an on-site workforce.
  • Assist employees and supervisors with policy questions, workplace concerns, and general HR guidance while promoting a respectful and compliant environment.
  • Process and review timekeeping and payroll information with attention to deadlines and accuracy for a workforce of fewer than 200 employees.
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS data using systems such as timekeeping, recruiting, and human resources platforms.
  • Partner with operations leaders to provide HR visibility across day, evening, and overnight shifts as needed.
  • Help administer benefits-related tasks and employee documentation in alignment with company procedures.
  • Contribute to onboarding workflows, including coordination with recruiting systems and new-employee processes.
  • Apply a safety-conscious approach when supporting HR activities in a manufacturing setting and while entering plant areas.
  • Previous experience in human resources, ideally in a generalist or broad HR support capacity.
  • Background working in manufacturing, food processing, distribution, or another operational environment with strong safety expectations.
  • Working knowledge of employee relations, onboarding, HR administration, and benefits support.
  • Ability to manage payroll or timekeeping activities with strong accuracy and attention to deadlines.
  • Comfortable using HR systems and business software; experience with platforms such as Kronos, UKG/UltiPro, or applicant tracking tools is helpful.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle changing priorities with professionalism.
  • Union environment exposure is preferred but not required.
  • Availability to work on site Monday through Friday with a consistent schedule and occasional flexibility to support alternate shifts.
