We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to provide onsite support for a manufacturing operation in Zeeland, Michigan. This Long-term Contract position will serve as a key HR presence for leaders and employees, helping maintain a productive, compliant, and well-supported workplace during leave coverage. The role combines employee-facing partnership with day-to-day HR coordination, making it ideal for someone who is comfortable on the production floor and confident handling a wide range of generalist responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a primary onsite HR resource for employees and supervisors, offering timely guidance on workplace concerns, policy interpretation, and people-related questions.
- Maintain a regular presence throughout the manufacturing floor to build trust, support leaders, and address issues directly in the work environment.
- Manage employee relations matters by conducting follow-up, supporting disciplinary processes, and helping resolve conflicts in a fair and consistent manner.
- Assist with staffing activities by supporting workforce planning, participating in candidate screening, and coordinating interview logistics.
- Oversee onboarding and orientation activities to help employees transition smoothly into the organization.
- Ensure HR practices align with employment laws, internal policies, and applicable workplace compliance standards in a regulated manufacturing setting.
- Prepare and maintain employee documentation, HR records, and routine reporting with accuracy and attention to confidentiality.
- Process unemployment-related documentation and provide administrative support tied to employee status changes and other HR transactions.
- Partner with onsite leadership through regular meetings and day-to-day coaching to support people decisions and operational needs.
- Previous experience in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner capacity with strong exposure to employee relations and HR administration.
- Required background supporting employees in a manufacturing environment with the ability to work effectively on the production floor.
- Familiarity with compliance-driven or regulated industries is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle investigations, performance management matters, and workplace conflict resolution professionally.
- Strong working knowledge of HR policies, employment law, and day-to-day compliance practices.
- Comfortable balancing high-touch employee support with detailed administrative responsibilities and reporting.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills with the confidence to interact with employees and leaders at all levels.
- Experience using HR systems such as Workday or similar platforms is preferred.
