Original job description

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented PART-TIME HR team member to provide steady, hands-on support for daily human resources functions in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This Long-term Contract opportunity is part-time and fully onsite, with a focus on payroll administration, benefits coordination, and consistent employee support for a workforce of approximately 80 employees. The role is best suited for someone who can work independently, maintain reliable weekly hours, and keep core HR operations running smoothly in a high-accountability environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage semi-monthly payroll processing for approximately 80 employees with accuracy, timeliness, and close attention to employee changes that may affect pay.
  • Coordinate benefits administration activities and guide employees through open enrollment, addressing questions and helping ensure a smooth annual process.
  • Serve as a day-to-day HR resource by responding to employee inquiries and providing practical support across routine human resources matters.
  • Partner with leaders on foundational employee relations needs by assisting with documentation, performance improvement materials, and related administrative follow-through.
  • Maintain essential HR operations and ensure core processes continue uninterrupted while broader initiatives remain deprioritized.
  • Monitor payroll and benefits workloads proactively, balancing recurring payroll deadlines with increased seasonal demands tied to enrollment activities.
  • Uphold organized HR records and support compliant administration of compensation, benefits, and standard personnel processes.
  • Work onsite on a consistent part-time schedule, delivering dependable coverage for ongoing HR support needs throughout the engagement.
  • 7+ years of experience in human resources, with strong depth in payroll, benefits, and HR administration.
  • Demonstrated success handling semi-monthly payroll and related employee pay adjustments with minimal oversight.
  • Practical experience administering employee benefits, including direct involvement with open enrollment activities.
  • Ability to operate independently, take ownership of daily HR responsibilities, and make sound decisions within established guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge of HR operations, compensation and benefits practices, and compliance-related administration.
  • Reliable availability for a consistent part-time schedule of approximately 20 hours per week in a fully onsite setting.
  • Comfortable supporting managers with basic employee relations documentation while working in a primarily operational, non-recruiting role.
