Original job description
We are looking for a Hub Lead to oversee daily hub operations and keep dispatch, pickup coordination, and route execution on track. This long-term contract position is ideal for a logistics specialist who can guide frontline teams, respond quickly to shifting operational needs, and maintain a safe, efficient work environment. The role combines hands-on floor leadership with performance monitoring, team support, and timely communication with management when issues affect service or capacity.
Responsibilities:
- Direct day-to-day activity at the hub, ensuring dispatch workflows, package pickup timing, and route movement stay organized and efficient.
- Provide guidance to a team of dispatch personnel, helping balance workloads, reassign coverage when attendance gaps occur, and keep operations moving throughout each shift.
- Monitor hub throughput and operational performance, then share accurate updates and metrics with regional or transportation leadership.
- Support dispatch staff with real-time coaching on routing decisions, delivery exceptions, and other frontline logistics challenges.
- Lead routine safety discussions and reinforce compliance with company procedures and operational standards.
- Identify and escalate concerns related to staffing levels, equipment availability, or package volume so leadership can respond quickly.
- Assist with onboarding and training for new team members, helping them learn processes, expectations, and daily execution standards.
- Maintain an active presence across the floor and yard to address issues directly and support efficient coordination between teams.
- At least 1 year of experience in dispatching or a comparable frontline logistics or distribution role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead peers, provide direction during live operations, and support the training of new hires.
- Practical knowledge of dispatch systems and day-to-day transportation or logistics tools.
- Experience working in fast-paced shipping, distribution, or logistics environments where coordination and timing are critical.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to escalate operational concerns clearly and professionally.
- Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor hub environments, with the ability to remain active throughout the shift.
- Able to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
