Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day human resources operations, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and performance management.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR-related matters.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and initiatives that align with organizational goals.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, performance concerns, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate recruitment and hiring efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and onboarding.
  • Oversee benefits administration, employee leave programs, and related HR documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data.
  • Support performance review processes, employee development, training, and retention initiatives.
  • Assist with workforce planning, organizational development, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Develop, update, and communicate employee handbooks, HR policies, and workplace procedures.
  • Partner with payroll and finance teams to ensure accurate employee data and timely processing of HR-related changes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and overall employee experience.
  • Provide guidance to managers on employee management, policy interpretation, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive human resources experience, including experience managing or leading HR functions.
  • Previous experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, social services, or mission-driven organization is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements, particularly California employment regulations if applicable.
  • Experience managing employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with employees, leadership, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
