Original job description
We are looking for a customer-focused Help Desk/Desktop Support Analyst to serve as the primary point of contact for technical support in Illinois. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who takes initiative, enjoys working independently in a visible support role, and can deliver a high level of service across a Microsoft-based environment. The right candidate will combine hands-on troubleshooting skills with strong organization, ensuring end users receive timely assistance while keeping equipment, software, and support records well managed.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for incoming technical issues, providing attentive and responsive support to end users.
- Troubleshoot desktop, software, and basic application problems within a Microsoft environment, resolving issues directly or escalating when needed.
- Manage and update support tickets accurately to ensure clear communication, proper tracking, and timely follow-up.
- Install, configure, and support standard software and workstation tools for employees across the organization.
- Maintain documentation related to common issues, support procedures, and technical inventory to improve service consistency.
- Oversee asset availability and communicate with leadership when equipment or supplies need replenishment.
- Provide initial support for business applications, including low-level troubleshooting for tools such as Business Central.
- Assist with device and endpoint management activities, including work involving Active Directory and Windows 10 systems.
- Contribute to mobile and endpoint administration efforts where Intune knowledge can support the team’s broader IT operations.
- Experience providing end-user support in a help desk or desktop support capacity.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, including Windows 10 troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Active Directory for basic user and account support tasks.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve routine hardware, software, and application issues efficiently.
- Experience working with service desk ticketing systems and maintaining accurate support records.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to represent IT in a detail-oriented and approachable manner.
- Self-directed work style with a proactive approach to identifying needs and following through on solutions.
- Exposure to Intune is preferred but not required.
