Original job description

We are looking for a dependable Full Charge Bookkeeper to join a well-established company in Memphis, Tennessee. This position supports daily accounting activities across payables, receivables, payroll coordination, and reconciliations while helping maintain accurate financial records. The ideal candidate brings strong bookkeeping experience, works carefully with detail-heavy processes, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities in a hands-on office environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full accounts payable process, including entering vendor invoices, assigning proper coding, securing approvals, and preparing scheduled payments.
  • Manage accounts receivable activities by issuing invoices, applying incoming payments, reviewing aging reports, and following up on outstanding balances as needed.
  • Maintain employee timekeeping information and prepare payroll-related inputs while coordinating closely with supervisors on hourly employee records.
  • Contribute to month-end close activities by updating financial records and supporting books maintained under a blended cash and accrual approach.
  • Review inventory transactions and reconcile related activity within the company’s inventory management system using established costing methods.
  • Administer multi-state sales tax processes, including monitoring calculations and overseeing filings across numerous jurisdictions.
  • Perform account reconciliations, support general ledger accuracy, and assist with documentation needed for year-end external review.
  • Provide broader accounting and administrative support while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency in routine financial processes.
  • At least 5 years of practical bookkeeping or accounting support experience in a hands-on role.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll support, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online; additional familiarity with inventory systems is a plus.
  • Ability to manage responsibilities independently while maintaining accuracy, organization, and follow-through.
  • Understanding of multi-state sales tax administration is preferred.
  • Comfortable working onsite on a permanent basis in Memphis, Tennessee, with potential flexibility after initial training.
  • Proficiency in full charge bookkeeping and payroll processes, including recurring payroll cycles.
