Dispatcher

We are looking for a Dispatcher to coordinate daily delivery activity and support a fast-moving transportation operation in Houston, Texas. This contract-to-permanent position is ideal for someone who stays organized under pressure, communicates clearly with drivers, and can manage shifting priorities throughout the day. The person in this role will help keep routes on schedule, resolve delivery issues in real time, and contribute to a safe, efficient loadout and dispatch process.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate dispatch activity for a high-volume driver group, helping maintain route coverage and on-time delivery performance throughout the shift.
• Use company routing and tracking platforms to build schedules, monitor delivery progress, and respond quickly to changes in the field.
• Oversee pre-departure operations by receiving inbound trucks, organizing package staging, and preparing the site for driver loadout.
• Support driver launch by handling check-in and check-out activities, answering operational questions, and providing guidance on service expectations and compliance standards.
• Track active routes after departure, investigate failed or delayed deliveries, and work through package exceptions to support successful completion.
• Review proof-of-delivery records for accuracy, identify missing or incorrect documentation, and escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate teams.
• Document payment, compliance, technical, or risk-related concerns and prepare clear end-of-shift updates for the evening dispatch handoff.
• Assist with package sorting during peak volume periods as needed to keep operations moving efficiently.
• Maintain a visible presence on the floor and in the yard, supporting daily activity in both indoor and outdoor work areas and helping with light physical tasks when required.
• Prior experience in dispatch, logistics coordination, transportation support, or a related operations environment.
• Strong computer proficiency, including comfort with communication and spreadsheet tools such as Slack and Google Sheets.
• Ability to stay composed in a fast-paced setting, make sound decisions quickly, and take initiative when issues arise.
• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and with empathy when working with drivers and internal teams.
• Customer service experience and confidence handling real-time questions, service concerns, and operational follow-up.
• Familiarity with delivery tracking, routing support, or computer-aided dispatch systems is preferred.
• Willingness to work in an active floor and yard environment with outdoor exposure and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
