Dispatcher

We are looking for a detail-oriented Dispatcher to support daily delivery operations in New York. This contract position with potential for a permanent opportunity is centered on coordinating routes, monitoring driver activity, and keeping the site running smoothly throughout each stage of the delivery cycle. The ideal candidate is comfortable working at a desk while also staying visible on the floor, communicating clearly with drivers, and responding calmly in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily operations for a high-volume delivery site by helping manage driver activity, route readiness, and workstation coverage throughout the shift.
• Use internal routing and tracking tools to build, adjust, and monitor delivery schedules so drivers can complete their assigned stops efficiently.
• Prepare the facility before loadout by receiving inbound trucks, organizing packages, staging routes, and ensuring the site is ready for driver departure.
• Support drivers during loadout by handling check-in and check-out, resolving package questions, and reinforcing delivery standards, safety expectations, and compliance practices.
• Track drivers after departure, investigate service exceptions, and document unresolved issues for follow-up with the appropriate teams.
• Review proof-of-delivery records and photos, identify missing or incorrect documentation, and escalate concerns related to payments, technical problems, or compliance matters.
• Reset the floor after dispatch activity, reconcile failed or undelivered packages, and complete end-of-shift handoff reporting for the remote dispatch team.
• Assist with package sorting during peak periods when operational demand requires additional on-site support.
• Prior experience in dispatch, logistics coordination, transportation support, or a similar operations-focused role.
• Strong computer proficiency, including comfort using communication platforms, spreadsheets, and dispatch or route-management systems.
• Ability to stay organized and make sound decisions in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment.
• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and empathetically with drivers and team members.
• Willingness to maintain an active presence in the warehouse floor and yard, including periodic outdoor work.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Customer service experience and a proactive approach to solving day-to-day operational issues.
