Dispatcher

We are looking for a Dispatcher to join our team in Houston, Texas in a contract to hire role with the potential to become permanent. This position plays a central part in keeping daily delivery activity organized by supporting drivers, coordinating route readiness, and resolving issues as they arise throughout the shift. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly with drivers and internal teams, and brings a hands-on approach to both floor operations and dispatch coordination. Work Schedule: 4 10's, Sun-Wed OR Wed-Sat, 5AM-3:30PM

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily support for a high-volume driver group, helping maintain smooth delivery operations across multiple active routes.
• Use dispatch and routing tools to build, track, and adjust schedules so drivers are prepared for on-time departures and efficient route execution.
• Manage pre-departure activities by receiving inbound trucks, organizing package sorting and route staging, and preparing the site for driver loadout.
• Support driver check-in and departure by answering operational questions, addressing package discrepancies, and confirming drivers are ready to leave the facility.
• Provide real-time coaching to drivers on service expectations, safety, compliance, and effective delivery practices.
• Handle post-loadout follow-up by resetting the floor, researching undelivered or failed packages, and documenting issues that require escalation.
• Monitor drivers while they are on route, review proof-of-delivery submissions for accuracy, and flag missing or incorrect documentation.
• Escalate payment, compliance, and technical concerns to the appropriate teams and prepare end-of-shift updates for the remote dispatch team.
• Assist with package sorting during high-volume periods when operational needs require additional floor support.
• Previous experience in dispatch, logistics coordination, transportation support, or a similar fast-paced operations role.
• Proficiency with computer-based tools such as Slack, Google Sheets, and other scheduling or dispatch platforms.
• Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to remain calm, clear, and empathetic under pressure.
• Proven ability to take initiative, solve problems quickly, and manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
• Comfortable maintaining an active presence on the floor and in the yard, including working outdoors as needed.
• Ability to lift and move items up to 25 lbs on an occasional basis.
• Experience supporting drivers, coordinating delivery activity, or working with computer-aided dispatch systems is preferred.
