Dispatcher

We are looking for a Dispatcher to support overnight transportation and delivery coordination for a Contract position based in Capitol Heights, Maryland. In this role, you will serve as a key point of contact for drivers, help resolve delivery-related issues in real time, and keep operations running smoothly between the night and day shifts. The position also requires close attention to safety, documentation, customer concerns, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate overnight dispatch activities, provide ongoing support to drivers, and address delivery disruptions or service concerns as they arise.
• Oversee nightly transportation workflows to ensure an organized handoff to daytime operations and maintain continuity across shifts.
• Lead recurring safety communications for drivers during the shift to reinforce safe work practices and reduce incidents.
• Review customer complaint records, verify details within tracking or CRM tools, and share findings or service improvement opportunities with leadership.
• Monitor route performance and driver time records to improve efficiency while supporting accurate scheduling and payroll-related processes.
• Audit driver logs and transportation documentation to confirm compliance with company standards and applicable regulations.
• Track vehicle locations and temperature-sensitive delivery status through operational systems to support on-time service and cold chain adherence.
• Confirm that vehicle inspection reports and other fleet maintenance paperwork are completed, collected, and filed each night.
• Prepare and finalize required overnight operational reports before the end of the shift with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and assist with additional operational tasks or short-term projects as needed.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 3 years of experience in dispatching, vehicle routing, logistics coordination, or a related transportation role.
• Strong English communication skills with the ability to give clear instructions, respond professionally, and collaborate with drivers and management.
• Solid customer service and problem-solving abilities, including the judgment to prioritize urgent issues and resolve them efficiently.
• Working knowledge of transportation compliance standards, company procedures, and recordkeeping requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, along with comfort using CRM or logistics systems.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate logs, reports, and operational paperwork.
• Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license preferred, but not required.
