Original job description
We are looking for a Dispatcher to coordinate daily delivery activity from our Orlando, Florida site in a fast-moving logistics environment. This Long-term Contract position is best suited for someone who is comfortable managing desk-based operations while staying engaged with drivers and on-site activity throughout the day. The person in this role will help keep routes on schedule, resolve delivery issues quickly, and maintain clear communication across drivers, on-site teams, and remote support partners.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily dispatch activity for a large group of delivery drivers, helping maintain route coverage and supporting high-volume delivery operations.
- Use internal routing and tracking systems to build schedules, monitor progress, and adjust plans as delivery conditions change.
- Support facility readiness before departures by receiving inbound trucks, organizing package staging areas, and preparing routes for driver loadout.
- Manage the driver departure process by checking drivers in and out, answering operational questions, and addressing missing-package concerns before routes begin.
- Provide real-time guidance to drivers on delivery expectations, compliance standards, and service best practices throughout the shift.
- Reconcile undelivered or failed packages after loadout, document operational issues, and escalate payment, technical, or compliance concerns to the appropriate teams.
- Monitor drivers while they are on the road, review proof-of-delivery records for accuracy, and flag missing or incorrect documentation for follow-up.
- Maintain shift continuity by resetting the work area, preparing end-of-shift handoff notes, and coordinating with the remote dispatch team for evening coverage.
- Assist with package sorting during peak periods as needed and contribute to floor and yard operations in a hands-on support capacity.
- Prior experience in dispatch, logistics coordination, transportation support, or a similar operations-focused role.
- Strong computer proficiency, including comfort using communication platforms, spreadsheets, and dispatch or tracking tools.
- Ability to stay organized and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to interact empathetically with drivers and team members.
- Customer service mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving operational issues.
- Willingness to work in both office and active floor environments, including outdoor exposure and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Spanish language skills are a plus and may be helpful when supporting a diverse driver population.
