Original job description
We are looking for an experienced Credit / Collections Manager to lead credit risk and receivables activities for client in the Reading, PA area. This position combines strategic oversight with day-to-day leadership, helping the business protect cash flow, strengthen customer partnerships, and support profitable growth. The role works closely with sales, finance, customer service, and leadership teams to improve decision-making, resolve account issues, and streamline the broader credit-to-cash process.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the full customer credit lifecycle, from onboarding reviews and limit setting to ongoing account evaluation and approval decisions.
- Assess customer risk by reviewing financial performance, payment behavior, outside credit data, market conditions, and overall exposure to the business.
- Track receivable aging, delinquent balances, blocked transactions, and higher-risk accounts, then take prompt action to reduce exposure.
- Collaborate with commercial and operational stakeholders to make balanced credit decisions that support both risk control and customer needs.
- Prepare input for bad debt reserves, write-off recommendations, audit support, and management reporting related to receivables performance.
- Establish and maintain clear escalation paths, approval thresholds, and operating controls for credit risk and overdue account management.
- Handle challenging collection matters and negotiate workable payment solutions while preserving long-term customer relationships.
- Supervise, coach, and develop a small credit and collections team, providing guidance on complex account situations and risk assessments.
- Review the end-to-end order-to-cash process to identify inefficiencies, recurring issues, and opportunities to improve standardization, automation, analytics, and AI-enabled workflows.
- 8+ years of experience in credit management, accounts receivable, collections, credit risk, or a related finance function.
- Strong knowledge of credit-to-cash or order-to-cash processes, including associated controls and risk management practices.
- Preferred experience with SAP, Power BI, workflow automation, or comparable ERP and analytics platforms required
- Experience leading or mentoring team members within a credit, collections, or accounts receivable environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline; comparable relevant experience may be considered.
