Cost Accountant

Our client is seeking a cost accountant for a contract opportunity in the Bridgewater, NJ area. This role is fully onsite and is ideal for candidates who are able to begin working immediately. The client is seeking candidates with experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing or construction environment.

Cost Accountant / Financial Analyst Responsibilities

• Analyze operating costs, materials, inventory, and other business expenses to evaluate profitability and support strategic decision-making.
• Monitor and analyze overhead expenditures and cost trends.
• Prepare and maintain monthly budgets in collaboration with operational and department leadership.
• Assist with capital expenditure tracking, reporting, and fixed asset management.
• Support internal and external audits and assist with general ledger activities.
• Manage cost allocations across departments, projects, or business units.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
• Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Support inventory accounting processes, including physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.

Cost Accountant Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required with a preference for an accounting or finance degree
• 3+ years of cost accounting experience.
• Experience using ERP systems including Excel
