This role will oversee core close activities, maintain the integrity of the general ledger, and support accurate financial reporting in a service-oriented accounting environment. The position is well suited for someone who is detail oriented and can guide day-to-day accounting operations while reviewing team output and ensuring timely completion of key deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the monthly close process and keep reporting timelines on track through effective coordination of accounting activities.
  • Review account analyses and reconciliations to confirm accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and support a clean close.
  • Oversee bank reconciliations and monitor cash-related entries to maintain reliable financial records.
  • Approve daily accounting transactions and journal entries in alignment with internal controls and established policies.
  • Maintain oversight of the general ledger, ensuring balances are properly recorded and supported.
  • Assist with preparation and review of financial reports for leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Provide direction to accounting staff by reviewing work, offering guidance, and promoting high-quality execution.
  • Apply sound accounting judgment within a business environment that may involve commissions, industry-specific terminology, and insurance-related transactions.

The ideal candidate will have the following skill set:

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility within a corporate accounting function.
  • Demonstrated success managing month-end close activities, reconciliations, and journal entry review.
  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger processes and financial reporting support.
  • Experience using NetSuite in an accounting or controllership capacity.
  • Ability to review and approve daily accounting activity with a high degree of accuracy and accountability.
  • Background in insurance is preferred; candidates from financial services, banking, financial institutions, service-based industries, or other related industries will also be considered.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and team leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in a Contract role.
