This onsite role will oversee cost accounting, support the monthly close cycle, and manage billing processes in a machine hour-driven production environment. The position also serves as a key resource for maintaining accounting system accuracy, improving reporting, and helping leadership understand operating performance. We are looking for someone with a solid understanding of manufacturing that doesn't mind being in the weeds but also brings a strategic mindset to the table! Comp up to $125k+!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead plant cost accounting activities by assigning and reviewing overhead rates tied to machine utilization and validating the accuracy of job and work order costing.
  • Evaluate monthly values for work in process and finished goods inventory to ensure reliable financial reporting and inventory records.
  • Administer and refine the manufacturing accounting system by maintaining costing configurations, updating routing-related data, and resolving system issues that affect reporting integrity.
  • Prepare accounting entries and complete reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and cash activity as part of an accurate and timely month-end close.
  • Manage customer billing activities, including invoice creation, progress billing support, cash application, and follow-up on outstanding receivables.
  • Oversee fixed asset records and depreciation schedules while partnering on inventory cycle counts to investigate and resolve variances.
  • Review labor and machine hour inputs that drive product costing and provide backup assistance for payroll-related processing when needed.
  • Contribute to budgeting and monthly financial analysis by preparing variance reporting and assembling preliminary financial statements for management review.
  • Strengthen accounting processes by documenting procedures, improving internal workflows, and promoting high-quality system data across the organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or comparable experience in a similar role.
  • At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing accounting with strong depth in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven background in machine hour-based or standard costing methods and their application to inventory and job cost analysis.
  • Hands-on responsibility for configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Epicor or a comparable ERP platform beyond basic end-user activity.
  • Solid knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, job costing, and inventory valuation practices.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities, including the ability to work with large data sets, build cost models, and use tools such as pivot tables and lookup functions effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical problem-solving ability, and a clear sense of ownership for financial and system data accuracy.
