Original job description

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to build and lead the finance and accounting function for a growing, privately held organization. This is an opportunity to establish scalable financial processes, strengthen internal controls, and serve as a key financial partner to executive leadership as the company enters an exciting phase of growth.

Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, this individual will oversee financial reporting, forecasting, cash management, and accounting operations while helping develop the infrastructure needed to support future expansion. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable managing day-to-day accounting responsibilities and providing strategic financial insight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and continued improvement of the company's finance and accounting function, including financial reporting, internal controls, policies, and scalable processes.
  • Serve as a strategic financial partner to executive leadership, providing financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support business planning, capital allocation, and leadership decisions.
  • Develop and maintain cash flow projections, financial forecasts, and budgeting models to support business growth and operational planning.
  • Manage relationships with external accounting partners, ensuring accurate and timely monthly financial statements and reporting.
  • Oversee the month-end close process and maintain accurate, organized financial records in preparation for audits and other financial reviews.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity, evaluate financial risks, and proactively communicate potential funding needs and cash management considerations.
  • Establish and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures as the organization grows.
  • Oversee financial administration, including banking relationships, insurance coordination, and other financial partnerships.
  • Provide financial oversight for major capital projects, including procurement coordination, accounts payable/receivable, purchase orders, invoice processing, and payment tracking against established budgets and milestones.
  • Monitor project expenditures against forecasts, investigate variances, and provide financial updates to leadership.
  • Help build out the accounting team over time, including identifying opportunities to delegate responsibilities and hiring additional accounting support as the business expands.

This is a permanent position. If you are interested, please reach out to Zoe Slater.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 6+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.

  • Ability to operate in a hands-on, evolving environment while partnering with executive leadership.
