Original job description
We are looking for an experienced Content Manager to support high-visibility publication projects for an organization in Houston, Texas. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who can turn complex information into clear, compelling narratives while guiding content from planning through final delivery. The person in this role will help shape major year-end materials, partner with stakeholders to refine messaging, and work within established creative templates to keep projects on schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and development of content for key year-end publications, including an impact report and a year-in-review piece.
- Organize source material, stakeholder input, and supporting data into a cohesive editorial structure that is easy for audiences to follow.
- Write, revise, and refine copy to ensure messaging is accurate, engaging, and aligned with the organization’s goals.
- Collaborate with internal partners and contributors to gather information, clarify priorities, and move deliverables forward efficiently.
- Adapt written content within existing Canva-based layouts while maintaining consistency in tone, flow, and presentation.
- Build and manage content workflows that support deadlines, review cycles, and final approvals across multiple deliverables.
- Incorporate donor metrics and other performance information into compelling narratives once updated figures become available.
- Contribute strategic communications insight that strengthens storytelling, audience engagement, and the overall quality of published materials.
- 5+ years of experience in content strategy, editorial development, communications, or a related field.
- Demonstrated strength in writing, editing, and organizing complex information into clear, audience-focused content.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and keep publication projects progressing in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience working with design-driven content and collaborating within established templates or branded creative systems.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud tools, including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
- Solid graphic design sensibility with the ability to align written content to visual presentation.
- Familiarity with WordPress and an understanding of how content supports broader digital communications efforts.
- Background in nonprofit or mission-driven work is appreciated but not required.
