Collections Specialist

We are seeking a motivated and professional Collections Specialist for a contract opportunity in Salt Lake City, Utah. This role is responsible for managing outstanding customer accounts, reducing delinquent balances, and maintaining positive client relationships while ensuring timely payment collection. The ideal candidate is organized, persistent, and skilled at resolving payment issues in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Contact customers regarding past-due invoices via phone, email, and written correspondence
• Review aging reports and prioritize collection efforts
• Negotiate payment arrangements and follow up on commitments
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies that may delay payment
• Document collection activities and customer communications accurately
• Monitor accounts for payment trends and identify potential risk accounts
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve customer account concerns
• Process account adjustments, credits, and dispute resolutions as needed
• Prepare collection reports and provide updates on account status
• Assist with month-end activities and other accounting projects
• 2+ years of collections, accounts receivable, or related accounting experience
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Experience handling high-volume customer accounts
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
