Collections Specialist

We are seeking a Collections Specialist to join a growing team in the Lexington area. This role is responsible for managing outstanding customer balances, communicating with clients regarding payment status, resolving account discrepancies, and helping maintain healthy cash flow. The ideal candidate is professional, customer-focused, and comfortable handling sensitive financial conversations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Contact customers regarding outstanding invoices and past-due accounts
• Monitor aging reports and prioritize collection efforts
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, and unapplied cash
• Negotiate payment arrangements when appropriate
• Maintain detailed records of collection activity and customer communications
• Work closely with customers to resolve account concerns and disputes
• Reconcile customer accounts and payment histories
• Process account adjustments, credits, and write-offs as needed
• Collaborate with accounting and customer service teams to resolve issues impacting payment
• Provide regular updates on collection efforts and account status
• 1+ years of B2B collections, accounts receivable, customer service, or related experience preferred
• High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines simultaneously
