Collections Specialist

Our client in Jericho, NY is seeking a detail-oriented Collections/Accounts Receivable Specialist on a temp-to-hire basis. This role will be responsible for managing customer accounts, following up on outstanding balances, applying payments, reconciling discrepancies, and supporting the overall accounts receivable process. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a professional demeanor, and prior experience in collections and AR.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on past-due accounts
• Contact customers by phone and email to collect outstanding balances
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and account questions
• Post customer payments and maintain accurate account records
• Reconcile AR accounts and prepare account status updates
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve invoicing or payment concerns
• Maintain detailed collection notes and documentation
• Assist with credit evaluations and account reviews as needed
• Support month-end close activities related to receivables

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or credit/collections
• Strong understanding of AR processes and aging reports
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
