Collections Specialist

We are seeking a Collections Specialist with strong collections experience for a client in Rosemont, IL. Ideal candidates will have a background in collections, accounts receivable, cash applications, customer account reconciliation, and following up on outstanding balances. Experience generating reports, analyzing aging, and working extensively in Excel is highly preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and follow up on past-due invoices
• Contact customers via phone and email to secure payment and resolve outstanding balances
• Review and maintain aging reports, prioritizing collection activities accordingly
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, and unapplied cash
• Reconcile customer accounts and document collection efforts
• Partner with internal teams including AR, Customer Service, and Sales to resolve payment issues
• Generate and analyze collection and aging reports in Excel
• Assist with cash applications and other Accounts Receivable-related activities as needed
• Maintain accurate notes and records within the ERP/accounting system

2+ years of collections experience Prior Accounts Receivable support experience Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data analysis Experience managing aging reports and following up on past-due accounts Ability to reconcile customer accounts and research payment discrepancies Strong communication skills for customer outreach and relationship management Experience working within an ERP or accounting system High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
