This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys working with high-volume financial activity and takes pride in maintaining precise accounting records. In this role, you will support daily cash application, treasury-related entries, and transaction tracking while partnering with internal teams to keep payment activity accurate and up to date.
Responsibilities:
- Apply incoming payments to the correct customer, vendor, general ledger, or related accounts with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.
- Reconcile intercompany payment activity by matching transactions across entities and clearing outstanding items appropriately.
- Manage zero-balance clearing activity for customer and vendor accounts, investigating exceptions and escalating unresolved issues when necessary.
- Record bank sweep and related treasury transactions through journal entries that properly reflect account activity in the ledger.
- Update and maintain wire transfer tracking records in Excel to support complete and organized payment documentation.
- Keep daily deposit logs current and accurate in Excel, ensuring all check activity is documented for reference and audit support.
- Review payment details and backup documentation before posting to confirm completeness, validity, and proper coding.
- Research routine discrepancies involving cash application, clearing, and reconciliations, and work with internal stakeholders to resolve them.
- Organize supporting records and maintain clear audit trails while following established accounting controls, approval workflows, and month-end close procedures.
- Prior experience in cash application, cash posting, accounts receivable, or closely related accounting functions.
- Working knowledge of payment processing, account clearing, and reconciliation practices in a high-volume environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for maintaining logs, tracking transactions, and reviewing financial data.
- Experience using SAP or a comparable ERP system for posting and monitoring accounting activity.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Accounting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other internal teams.
- Well-organized work habits and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
