Original job description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Business Analyst to support key business initiatives in Southern California. This is a Long-term Contract position requiring a strong partner who can translate operational needs into clear requirements, guide cross-functional discussions, and help teams move from analysis through validation and readiness. The role is onsite four days each week and is well suited for someone who thrives in a structured, fast-moving environment while communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business teams and project stakeholders to define objectives, clarify scope, and capture detailed needs through interviews, workshops, observation, and document analysis.
  • Produce well-organized analysis deliverables such as current and future workflow documentation, process diagrams, business rules, decision records, and supporting narratives that guide solution design.
  • Convert business priorities into actionable artifacts including epics, features, user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria to support delivery teams and testing efforts.
  • Maintain end-to-end visibility of requirements by tracking changes, documenting impacts, and ensuring alignment from initial business goals through build, validation, and final acceptance.
  • Lead functional discussions across multiple stakeholder groups, resolve ambiguity, surface risks, and help drive timely decisions on priorities, dependencies, and tradeoffs.
  • Analyze process, data, reporting, interface, control, privacy, and security needs to ensure proposed solutions support operational and compliance expectations.
  • Support testing and business acceptance activities by preparing test scenarios, reviewing coverage, assisting with defect analysis, and confirming expected outcomes with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to implementation readiness through training input, operating procedure documentation, knowledge transfer materials, cutover support, and status reporting for leadership.
  • Represent assigned business domains in cross-functional planning, design reviews, readiness meetings, and issue management discussions to keep workstreams aligned.
  • Proven experience as a business analyst supporting complex IT or business transformation initiatives in a structured enterprise environment.
  • Strong ability to gather, organize, and document functional, non-functional, data, reporting, integration, compliance, and security requirements.
  • Demonstrated skill in facilitating workshops, stakeholder meetings, and decision-making sessions with both business and technical participants.
  • Experience creating process maps, swimlane diagrams, traceability records, user stories, use cases, and other formal analysis documentation.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics in practical, audience-appropriate language.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, evaluate impacts of requirement changes, and remain effective in a fast-paced onsite setting.
  • Familiarity with operational areas such as finance, compliance, vendors, reporting, quality, training, or administrative business processes is preferred.
  • Experience supporting testing, readiness planning, and business acceptance activities is highly desirable.
