Original job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a small manufacturing company in Dallas, Texas. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent position is ideal for someone who enjoys owning day-to-day accounting activities, working independently, and contributing in a hands-on office environment. The position begins as fully onsite and may transition to a hybrid schedule after the first six months based on business needs. This role offers the chance to support a collaborative team while keeping financial operations accurate, organized, and on track.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily bookkeeping activities across payables, receivables, and general ledger maintenance to support accurate financial records.
  • Reconcile bank statements and internal accounts on a regular basis, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
  • Review and process customer orders, ensuring transactions are verified correctly and entered with accuracy.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks by preparing records, organizing documentation, and supporting financial reporting needs.
  • Partner with the external accounting firm to provide required information and maintain alignment on financial matters.
  • Handle administrative and accounting-related support duties as needed in a small business setting with shifting priorities.
  • Manage occasional paper-based items such as mailed orders, filing, and infrequent check handling while supporting paperless workflow improvements.
  • Maintain organized financial documentation and help improve the efficiency of day-to-day accounting processes.
  • At least 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or general accounting roles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight and effectively balance multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical thinking and a high level of accuracy in financial data management.
  • Comfortable operating in a small company environment that may involve both digital and manual processes.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, detail-focused approach to working with others.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software; familiarity with Traverse is a plus.
  • Manufacturing industry experience is preferred.
