Original job description

Looking for an accounting role where your work truly makes a difference? We are partnering with a respected non-profit organization in the Capital Region to identify a Bookkeeper to join their Finance team. This position will start as a contract assignment, with potential for longer-term opportunities based on business needs and overall fit.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a blend of accounts payable, bookkeeping, reconciliations, banking support, and financial recordkeeping. You'll work closely with the Controller and Finance Manager while supporting a collaborative, mission-driven organization.

What You'll Do

Manage the accounts payable process from invoice receipt through entry and approval
Track incoming invoices and route them to the appropriate departments for authorization
Enter and maintain vendor invoices within Sage Intacct
Reconcile and track approximately 40 company credit cards, ensuring receipts and documentation are collected and recorded accurately
Review credit card statements and enter transactions into the accounting system
Support banking activities and account tracking
Monitor and track reimbursements for individuals whose finances are managed by the organization
Maintain accurate records related to purchases, reimbursements, and transfers between operating and personal accounts
Scan, file, and organize financial records to support audits and compliance requirements
Assist with mileage reimbursements, allowances, and other bookkeeping-related duties
Collaborate with finance leadership on special projects and day-to-day accounting support

Don't Let the Wish List Intimidate You! Not every candidate will meet every qualification listed. If you have a strong accounting foundation, solid Excel skills, and experience with accounts payable or financial recordkeeping, we'd love to hear from you.

Success in this role comes from being organized, detail-oriented, comfortable asking questions, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

Meaningful work supporting a mission-driven organization
Hands-on exposure to accounts payable, bookkeeping, banking, and reconciliations
Work directly with an experienced Controller and Finance Manager
Collaborative and supportive team environment
Excellent training and professional development opportunities
Strong benefits package available upon permanent hire
Opportunity to build valuable accounting and finance experience
Potential to join permanently (with hybrid work schedule after 6-months!)

If you're looking for a role where your accounting skills can support a larger mission while providing stability, growth, and a collaborative team culture, we'd love to hear from you!

Please apply to the role today and call Mary Christman and team at 518-462-1430. We look forward to speaking with you!

What We're Looking For

1+ year of bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounting support, or related experience
Experience processing invoices and maintaining accurate financial records
Experience tracking and reconciling credit card transactions preferred
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software is a plus
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize work, manage deadlines, and follow through on tasks
Self-starter mentality with strong problem-solving skills
Associate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred
