Original job description
We are looking for a Benefits Coordinator to support employee benefits and leave administration for a long-term contract assignment based in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
In this role, you will serve as a key resource for employees, vendors, and internal stakeholders by guiding benefit enrollments, leave cases, and related transactions with accuracy and professionalism.
The position requires strong Workday proficiency, sound knowledge of multi-state benefits practices, and the ability to respond clearly to employee questions during a high-volume period that includes open enrollment.
Responsibilities:
- Administer employee leave cases from initial request through return-to-work, including coordination related to FMLA, disability, and other applicable leave programs.
- Maintain accurate benefit and leave records in Workday by processing status changes such as new hires, leave entries, life events, terminations, and employee returns from leave.
- Act as a primary contact for employees and benefit carriers, providing timely guidance on coverage, eligibility, enrollment activity, and leave-related questions.
- Support open enrollment activities by assisting employees with plan elections and resolving issues tied to benefit selections or system navigation.
- Review carrier files, billing details, and plan data to help ensure accurate invoicing, reconciliation, and ongoing benefits administration.
- Coordinate enrollments and updates across medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, wellness, and related benefit programs.
- Manage a steady volume of disability and leave claims while tracking documentation, timelines, and case progress to completion.
- Assist employees with sensitive benefit and time-off questions in a clear, tactful manner, including explanations involving policy limits, election errors, or eligibility rules.
- Navigate multiple benefit and vendor portals confidently to complete transactions, verify information, and support day-to-day program administration.
- Contribute to benefits processing changes and carrier-related updates as needed during the contract period while maintaining service continuity.
- At least 2 years of experience in benefits and leave administration.
- Hands-on experience using Workday for benefits, employee status updates, and leave tracking.
- Working knowledge of leave programs such as FMLA, disability, COBRA, and ADA-related accommodations.
- Experience supporting benefit plans that may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life, disability, and wellness offerings.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to explain benefit information clearly and professionally to employees.
- Experience handling reconciliations, carrier file review, invoicing, or other benefit administration controls.
- Ability to support multi-state benefits processes while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, including open enrollment and high case volumes.
