We are looking for an experienced Attorney/Lawyer to support litigation ethics and compliance efforts for a fast-paced legal practice in Phoenix, Arizona. This role partners closely with firm leadership to strengthen compliance standards, review legal processes, and provide guidance across a broad portfolio of matters. The ideal candidate brings strong litigation judgment, a disciplined approach to risk assessment, and the ability to communicate effectively with attorneys and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the firm's general counsel to analyze legal ethics questions, conduct research, and prepare written guidance on compliance-related matters.
- Develop and refine standard operating procedures that support ethical and procedural consistency throughout intake, pre-suit activity, active litigation, resolution, and related account administration.
- Prepare, update, and standardize legal documents such as engagement agreements, client correspondence, demand materials, disengagement notices, and settlement-related forms.
- Review potential conflict issues, assess risk, and draft conflict waivers or related documentation when appropriate.
- Maintain and improve internal policies, workflows, and controls designed to reinforce litigation compliance across the organization.
- Perform high-level reviews of case files and attorney practices to confirm adherence to legal standards, internal expectations, and performance benchmarks.
- Monitor trends, exceptions, and key case indicators across a large matter portfolio, escalating concerns to supervising attorneys and leadership when needed.
- Advise attorneys and operational stakeholders on ethics compliance considerations affecting litigation strategy and case management practices.
- J.D. from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in the state of residence.
- At least 5 years of litigation experience, preferably gained in a well-regarded law firm environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience focused on litigation compliance, legal ethics, or a closely related function.
- Demonstrated knowledge of civil litigation practice, including drafting motions, briefing, and managing discovery-related work.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across legal and business teams.
- Proven ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and remain productive in a remote work setting.
- Multi-state litigation exposure, plaintiff-side personal injury experience, or bar membership in additional jurisdictions is valued.
