Original job description

We are looking for an experienced litigation attorney to join a well-established plaintiff-side practice in New York. This role offers the chance to handle meaningful matters across personal injury, employment, education, and complex civil litigation while working closely with firm leadership. The position is designed for a lawyer who wants to deepen courtroom experience, strengthen client relationships, and grow into a long-term leadership path within the practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a diverse litigation docket from initial client consultation through settlement, trial, or other final resolution.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and related appearances with confidence and care.
  • Prepare persuasive legal documents, including complaints, motions, discovery materials, briefs, and appellate filings.
  • Analyze case facts and applicable law to shape effective litigation strategies and guide next steps in each matter.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients by providing updates, managing expectations, and delivering high-quality service throughout the case lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the growth of the practice by engaging in networking, community involvement, and relationship-building efforts.
  • Partner with senior attorneys on case assessment, legal planning, and broader decisions that support the direction of the firm.
  • Gain exposure to law firm operations such as intake processes, marketing initiatives, staffing considerations, and day-to-day practice management.
  • Take on increasing leadership responsibilities over time, with the opportunity to help shape the future development of the practice.
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction, or the ability to secure admission promptly.
  • At least 3 years of litigation experience in a law firm or comparable legal setting.
  • Background in personal injury, employment law, education law, class actions, or other complex civil matters is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and discovery documents with precision and clarity.
  • Strong advocacy, negotiation, and legal research skills, with the ability to manage matters independently.
  • Collaborative approach paired with sound judgment and a commitment to excellent client representation.
  • Interest in business development and law firm leadership, including a long-term desire to grow into a senior role.
