Original job description

We are looking for an experienced litigation attorney to join a personal injury practice in Las Vegas, Nevada. This opportunity is ideal for someone who can independently evaluate case strategy, move matters forward with confidence, and advocate effectively from initial pleadings through resolution or trial. The attorney in this role will manage an active docket, work closely with internal partners, and pursue outcomes that reflect both sound judgment and strong client representation. If you are qualified for this position, please send your resume for immediate consideration to amy.thomas@roberthalf[dot][com].

Responsibilities:

  • Direct a portfolio of personal injury litigation matters and establish a clear legal strategy for each case based on liability, damages, and overall exposure.
  • Represent clients throughout the litigation process, including drafting pleadings, preparing and arguing motions, and advancing cases through trial when appropriate.
  • Oversee discovery by preparing written requests and responses, while also taking and defending depositions involving parties, experts, and corporate representatives.
  • Analyze medical records, accident facts, insurance coverage, and evidentiary issues to assess case strength and support valuation decisions.
  • Engage and coordinate with medical, liability, and other subject-matter experts to strengthen claims and prepare cases for negotiation or courtroom presentation.
  • Counsel clients on key litigation events by preparing them for depositions, mediation, arbitration, and trial, while maintaining consistent and substantive communication.
  • Negotiate with defense counsel and insurance carriers to pursue favorable settlements and provide thoughtful recommendations on whether to resolve or continue toward verdict.
  • Coordinate with the pre-suit team to review inherited files, identify development needs, and ensure matters are positioned effectively for ongoing litigation.
  • Maintain full accountability for court deadlines, case progress, and file management while collaborating with support staff and colleagues on significant litigation decisions.
  • Active license to practice law in good standing in Nevada.
  • At least 3 years of civil litigation experience, with personal injury litigation strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft motions, legal briefs, and other litigation documents with clarity and precision.
  • Hands-on experience managing written discovery, conducting depositions, and working with expert witnesses.
  • Trial background or a clear willingness to bring appropriate cases through verdict.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, advocacy, and legal writing skills, with sound judgment in high-pressure situations.
  • Proven ability to independently manage a substantial caseload while staying organized, responsive, and detail-oriented.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and collaboratively in a remote or distributed team environment.
