The ideal candidate brings strong leadership capability, hands-on technical accounting expertise, and the ability to guide audit readiness and month-end activities in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting records and reporting deliverables.
- Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts, resolve discrepancies, and improve the integrity of financial data.
- Partner with finance leadership as a strategic accounting resource, offering manager-level guidance on controls, reporting, and operational priorities.
- Prepare schedules, documentation, and supporting analysis required for external audit coordination and year-end review activities.
- Oversee general ledger accuracy by monitoring entries, investigating variances, and maintaining proper account structure.
- Produce financial reports that provide clear insight into organizational performance and support informed decision-making.
- Strengthen accounting processes and internal controls to promote consistency, compliance, and efficient execution of daily responsibilities.
- Support accounting projects and operational finance initiatives, including system-related activities when needed.
- 7+ years of accounting experience, including substantial responsibility for financial reporting and general ledger management.
- Demonstrated background in month-end close and balance sheet account reconciliation within a complex accounting environment.
- Experience preparing for financial statement audits and coordinating documentation for external auditors.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting principles, accounting controls, and reconciliation best practices.
- Proficiency with Yardi and the ability to work effectively within accounting systems and reporting tools.
- Ability to operate as a strategic partner with manager-level judgment, communication skills, and problem-solving capability.
- Prior experience supporting non-profit accounting functions is strongly preferred.
